IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: SECOND-QUARTER SURGE LEADS NEWARK VALLEY PAST DRYDEN (2025-12-17)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley outscored Dryden by 10 points in the second quarter en route to a 29-16 victory in IAC Large School JV girls basketball action here Tuesday.

Peyton Rhodes connected for six of her game-high 12 points and Myah Whitney knocked down a 3-pointer as the Cardinals’ 14-4 run gave them a 17-10 lead at halftime.

NV extended its lead to 25-16 after three periods of play, then shut out the Purple Lions in the final stanza.

Rhodes supported her scoring performance with eight rebounds and two steals; Whitney registered six points, five steals and three boards; and Aviah Aylesworth pitched in with four points, six boards, four steals and a block.

Emma Fenner drained a trey to go with four steals and two assists; Elle Webb contributed two points, four rebounds, three assists and one block; Natalie Wandell added two points and three boards; and Tyla Rundell grabbed four rebounds.

Ella Blank led Dryden with six points.
