TIOGA CENTER — S-VE knocked down big 3-pointers in the first half, but went cold from the field in the second half in a 62-38 loss to Tioga here Friday night in IAC South Small School boys basketball action.
Nick Oakes canned a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter, and Luukas Carling scored five points, including a 3-pointer, for the Panthers, but Tioga's Jackson Bombard and Dominic Palmer scored eight points apiece to give the Tigers a 16-13 lead.
Carling scored five more points, including another 3-pointer, and Oakes drained his third 3-pointer as S-VE kept it a three-point game, with the Tigers leading 26-23, at the half.
Carling scored six points in the third quarter, but Bombard took over for the Tigers, with 11 points in a 17-8 run that pushed the lead to 43-31 heading into the final eight minutes.
S-VE did not make a 3-pointer in the second, and was outscored 36-15.
Carling led S-VE with 18 points, while Oakes scored nine, Jackson Bennett had seven points, and Noah Ingram chipped in with four.
S-VE, now 0-2, hosts Southern Cayuga Tuesday.
