Tioga County Sports ReportHORSEHEADS — Junior Katelyn VanEtten finished sixth in her weight class to pace SVEC here Saturday at the Bea Stephens Girls Wrestling Scramble.
After a loss in her first pool play match, VanEtten scored consecutive falls — in 26 and 53 seconds, then lost in her final pool play match to finish at 2-2.
In the fifth-place match, VanEtten lost via first-period fall to Corning's Coraline Vanskiver.
Freshman Elizabeth Kunte was 1-5 to finish seventh in the 107-pound weight class. Her lone win was a third-period pin of Canisteo-Greenwood's Taya Avery.
Freshman Madalyn Jayne was 1-3 in the 126-pound weight class, and sophomore Abigail Russell was 0-4 in the 138-pound weight class.
SVEC will wrestle Lansing in a dual Wednesday, then will be in action Friday at the U-E Girls Tradesman Tournament.
