SPENCER — The Spencer-Van Etten boys basketball team returns six letter winners this season while losing just one player to graduation.
Coach Kyle Pierce has a roster that brings back forwards Luukas Carling and Nevin Mack, and guards Jackson Bennett, Keith Hills, Noah Ingram and Cameron Sundquist.
Pierce will be looking for guard Nick Oakes and forward Zane Showerman to make an impact.
The Panthers’ lone loss to graduation is Chris Merrick.
The coach is hoping for “improvement from last season, building off from game experiences and improving each game” as S-VE hopes to rebound from an 0-17 record in 2024-25.
Of course, the teams to beat again this season are ones which are located not too far down the road.
“In past seasons Candor and Newfield have been division leaders the last several years,” Pierce said.
S-VE opens the season Wednesday at Edison.
