SPENCER — Lansing built a 18-point lead through three quarters, and held off a fourth-quarter S-VE rally in a season-opening, 36-29, win here Thursday night in IAC girls basketball action.
The Bobcats built a quick 13-4 lead in the first quarter, and stretched the lead to 23-11 at the half, with Marissa Nolan pumping in 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Lansing used a 10-4 spurt in the third quarter to extend its lead to 33-15 entering the final eight minutes.
Kaylee Kastenhuber scored seven points in the fourth quarter, and Amani Diboun added five points to fuel a 14-3 run that closed the gap to seven points as time expired.
Kastenhuber, who had the Panthers' only 3-pointer of the game, led S-VE with 10 points and four rebounds, while Lauren Gillette had eight points and four boards, and Diboun added five points, seven boards, three assists.
Trinity Dashler chipped in with four points, while Kaidince grabbed four rebounds, and Maddie Ellison had three boards.
Nolan led Lansing with 17 points, and Izzy Wilder added 12 points.
S-VE returns to action Saturday at Edison.
