SECTION IV GIRLS SWIMMING: OWEGO'S MURPHY WINS GOLD, BRONZE AT CLASS B CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-11-09)

ENDWELL — Junior Ava Murphy medalled in a pair of events to pace Owego's efforts here Saturday at the Section IV, Class Girls Swimming Championships at Maine-Endwell High School.

The River Hawks finished sixth in the team standings. Maine-Endwell won the Class B title with 502 points, while Waverly was second with 373 points, Oneonta third with 301 points, and Chenango Valley was fourth with 225 points.

Murphy won the 100-yard butterfly in a personal-best time of 1:01.39, while junior Cecilia Clair was 10th in 1:15.74, and senior Sydney Shoen was 12th in 1:40.43.

Murphy finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.73, and junior Riley Masterson was 15h in 2:24.58.

The foursome of freshman Reese Hunt, Masterson, and juniors Liz Williams and Cecilia Clair teamed to place fourth in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:06.37 — more than eight seconds faster that its fifth-place time in the preliminaries.

Masterson, Williams, Hunt and junior Hailey Stevens teamed to place seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:32.82 — more than 10 seconds faster than their time in the prelims Thursday.

Hunt finished ninth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:53.04. Hunt also finished 14th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:28.1.

Freshman Maliah McMillen was 10th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 28.66 seconds.

Pratt finished 10th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:02.75, and junior Hailey Stevens was 15th in 1:07.83.

Pratt also finished 10th in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:11.94, and junior Liz Williams was 13th in 1:17.11.

Masterson was 11th in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:35.62.
