CORTLAND — Owego grad Jack Buchsbaum, a freshman on the Alfred University football team, had the best game of his your career here Saturday in the Saxons' 65-12 loss to nationally-ranked Cortland.
Alfred jumped out on top with a field goal midway through the first quarter, but the Red Dragons, ranked 23rd in the nation, reeled off six TDs to take a 42-3 halftime lead.
Buchsbaum had career-highs with eight receptions and 77 yards, including a long of 18 years.
Owego grad Steven Bidwell, a senior, matched his season-high with 10 carries, but only managed 13 yards against the stout Cortland defense.
Bidwell also had two solo tackles and a forced fumble on special teams.
For the season, Buchsbaum has 27 receptions for 334 yards. He also has two rushing attempts for negative-13 yards.
Bidwell has 147 yards and two TDs on 49 carries, as well as three receptions for two yards.
Alfred, now 3-3, returns to action Saturday when it hosts Utica University.
