
TIOGA COUNTY — A Tioga County rivalry is renewed on the gridiron tonight with SVEC hosting Newark Valley in a Section IV, Division VII match-up.
There are also a trio of volleyball match-ups with Newark Valley, Candor, and S-VE hosting IAC divisional rivals.
FOOTBALL
Newark Valley (3-3) at SVEC (4-2), 7 p.m. @ Candor H.S.: The Cardinals are coming off 41-22 win over Greene-Oxford, while the Eagles dropped a 28-6 decision at Trumansburg.
SVEC has outscored its opponents by an average of 34.7 to 21.5 points per. Game, while Newark Valley is being outscored by an average of 26.3 to 20.3 points per game.
The Eagles have used a big-play offense, led by seniors Logan Aman, Charlie Hilbert and QB Jakobe Foster, while the Cardinals have also flashed big-play potential, but have also grinned it out at times.
Defensively, both teams have been opportunistic, but have been pushed around a bit in the trenches.
