TIOGA COUNTY — Newark Valley senior Elijah Williams had a rare four-goal game, while Owego senior Maggie Hamed and Candor junior Emmi Makie had big weeks on the volleyball hardwoods. They are the Tioga County Sports Report / Guthrie Community Credit Union "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Feb. 11.

Williams scored four goals in Newark Valley's 4-2 win over Groton Monday.

Hamed and Makie led their teams to 2-0 marks on the week.
Hamed with 18 kills, two blocks and two assists in a sweep of Chenango Valley on Tuesday. On Thursday, Hamed had 12 kills, one block, 10 digs, and three service aces in a five-set win over previously-unbeaten Oneonta.
Emmi Makie led Candor with 12 points, including eight aces, and eight kills in a sweep of Moravia Tuesday. She followed it up Thursday with 16 service points, including two aces, 11 kills, two blocks, and seven assists in a sweep of S-VE.
