
NEWARK VALLEY — The Spencer-Van Etten cross country team competed in the Bob Greene/ Newark Valley Invitational here Friday.
The Panthers finished 15th overall in a field of more than 20 teams.
The youthful S-VE team’s lone senior, Kenric Beach led the way, placing 98th with a time of 23:11.7.
Tristan Jennings and Caleb Paucke, both 8th-graders, placed 103rd and 114th, respectively. Jennings clocked 23:38.6 and Paucke had a 25:01.1. Sophomore Landon Alise was 115th in 25:26.7 and classmate Anthony Wintermute was 116th in 25:51.9 to close out the team scoring.
Also running were sophomore Kaiden Shock (117th, 26:45.5) and junior William Horyczun (118th, 26:47.3).
The Panthers had just three girls competing, juniors Madelyn Ellison (34th, 23:41.6, Sofae Cook (71st, 27:24.3) and Harley Bly (84th, 33:15).
S-VE will compete in the Marathon Invitational on Oct. 18.
