HS CROSS COUNTRY: OWEGO BOYS, GIRLS WIN PETE MATZKE INVITE (2 PHOTOS) (2025-09-27)

ENDWELL — The Owego boys took six of the top 10 spots to win the Pete Matzke Cross Country Invitational here Friday while the girls had four runners place in the top 10 to claim the girls race.

The boys finished with 28 team points while the girls were victorious with 29.

VARSITY BOYS
Javan Belokur led a three-man surge, placing third in 17:42.6, while Magavin Allen and Gavin Heath grabbed the 4-5 spots with times of 18:26.5 and 18:26.7, respectively.

Everett Tirinato-Snow was seventh with a time of 19:00.3 and Levi Saunders rounded out the scoring in ninth, clocking 19:45.

Cadon Wasielewski placed 10th with a 19:51.2, Joram Belokur was 11th in 19:52 even, Henry Schultz Larson was 15th with a 20:21.5, Lukas Walp came in 26th at 21:15.2, Brady Senko was 30th in 21:38.5, Jacob Preston placed 33rd with a time of 22:01.9, Jordan Fernandez was 45th at 23:35.4, Caleb Rathke took 48th in 23:59.4, Everett Benjamin was 69th in 27:38.7, Cobie Schaffer came in 75th in 29:11.1, followed by Ephraim Doty in 76th at 29:37.9 and Grady Morse in 80th 39:03.8.

VARSITY GIRLS
Jaelyn Chrysler was the runner-up, clocking 20:27 while Abigail McHugh was third with a time of 21:04. Sarah Heath finished sixth in 22:06, Stella Palladino was seventh at 22:21 and Lilly LaFever rounded out the team scoring in 11th at 23:28.

Also competing were Carolyn Schuyler in 14th at 24:42, Nola Rosenberger taking 20th with 25:52, Paige DeProspero was 23rd at 27:43, Allyson Williams came in 31st with a 30:58 and Avaliegh Tinsley took 33rd in 32:59.
