ALBANY — Candor grad Shelby Swartz, a senior, and Owego grad Sophia Palladino, a junior, each registered a pair of triple-doubles, but Hartwick College went 1-3 in a pair of tri-meets over the weekend.
Candor grad Braelyn Hornick, a senior, has been out of action for the Hawks since the opening weekend.
FRIDAY
Williams College 3, Hartwick 0
Hartwick lost to unbeaten Williams College by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-23.
Swartz had 8.5 service points, eight kills, one block, and seven digs, and Palladino added 3.5 points, three kills, one block, and two digs.
Hartwick 3, Oneonta 2
SUNY Onoenta won the first set 25-19, but Hartwick won the next two by scores of 26-24 and 25-7. Oneonta forced a fifth set with a 25-19 win in the fourth set, but the Hawks prevailed, 15-12, in the finale.
Swartz and Palladino each registered triple-doubles in the win.
Swartz had 22 points, including one ace, 20 kills, two blocks, and 18 digs, while Palladino had 14 points, including three aces, 11 kills, and 14 digs.
SATURDAY
New Paltz 3, Hartwick 2
New Paltz and Hartwick exchanged 25-19 decisions in the first four sets, and New Paltz won the decisive fifth set, 15-11.
Swartz and Palladino registered triple-doubles in the loss.
Swartz had 13 points, 10 kills, and 11 digs, to go along with two blocks, two setter assists, and two service aces, while Palladino had 11 points, 10 kills, 10 digs, as well as one assist, and once ace.
Union College 3, Hartwick 0
Union College registered a sweep by scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-16.
Swartz had seven points, six kills, two blocks and eight digs, while Palladino had five points, four kills, two blocks, and seven digs.
On the season, Swartz leads the team with 118.5 points and 101 kills in 11 matches. She is second on the team with 108 digs, and third on the team with 18 blocks. She also has 12 assists, and eight aces.
Palladino is fourth on the team with 89 points and 72 kills, and third with 11 aces and 84 digs. She is fourth with 11 blocks, and also has two assists.
Hartwick, now 4-7, returns to action Wednesday when it hosts crosstown rival Oneonta.
