OWEGO — Senior Peyton Robinson scored on a penalty kick late in the first half, and Waverly's defense made it stand for a 1-0 win over Owego here Saturday night in STAC Central Division boys soccer action.
"It was a total team win," said Waverly coach Jon Rankin. "Everyone from the defense to the midfielders and strikers played well. Everything was flowing smoother."
With six minutes remaining in the first half, Robinson drew a foul in the box, and followed with a smooth shot past the Owego keeper.
Both teams managed five shots-on-goal in the contest.
Junior Aiden Doherty recorded five saves in net for Waverly
Owego, now 1-5, returns to action Tuesday at Seton Catholic.
