ON TAP TODAY: 'FOOTBALL FRIDAY' FEATURES HOME GAMES AT OWEGO, NEWARK VALLEY (2025-09-12)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — It's "Football Friday" and all three TCSR teams are in action, with Owego and Newark Valley hosting games, but there are also seven other events on the docket in five different sports.

FOOTBALL
Susquehanna Valley at Owego (0-1), 7 p.m.:
The River Hawks dropped a 7-6 decision to powerhouse Chenango Forks in Week Zero, while the Sabers will open the season tonight.

Owego was impressive on the defensive side of the ball, limiting a Forks offense that will likely score a lot of points this season to just one score.

The Owego offense is young, but had some good moments in the loss.

SVEC (1-0) at Schuyler (0-1), 7 p.m. @ O-M H.S.: The Eagles are coming off a 54-13 win over Harpursville-Afton, while the Storm dropped a 19-14 decision to Newark Valley — a game it led 14-0 at the half.

SVEC's offense is in good hands in QB Jakobe Foster, a dynamic tailback in Logan Aman, and a versatile back in Charlie Hilbert. The Eagles could score a lot of points this season.

The Storm were impressive on both sides of the ball in building a 14-0 halftime lead last week, but an NV kick return to start the second half turned the tide.

Sidney at Newark Valley (1-0), 7 p.m.: The Cardinals are coming off a come-from-behind, 19-14, win over Schuyler, while the Warriors open the season tonight.

The Cardinals used a special-teams play to spark its win over Schuyler last week. After struggling in the first half, NV's offense and defense picked it up a notch in the second half.

Sidney, coming down from Class C, is looking to improve on back-to-back two-win seasons.
