STAC GIRLS SWIMMING: MURPHY WINS TWICE, BUT OWEGO FALLS AT ONEONTA, 104-78; YOUNG BREAKS DIVING POOL RECORD (2025-09-11)

ONEONTA — Junior Ava Murphy was a double-winner, and sophomore diver Ayla Young picked Owego's only other first-place finish in a 104-78 loss to Oneonta here Thursday afternoon in STAC girls swimming action.

Murphy won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.26 seconds, and junior Cecilia Clair was third in 30.73 seconds.

Murphy also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.96, and sophomore Maura Wilburn was third in 1:44.15.

Young won the 1-meter diving competition with a six-dive score of 295.4 points. That effort set a new pool record, surpassing the 262.9 points scored by Vestal's Missy Urbanic in 1989.

Sophomore Sawyer Pratt finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:09.53, and Clair was third in 1:10.65.

Freshman Maliah McMillen finished third in the 200-yard IM in a time of 3:11.54. She was also third in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:19.28.

Sophomore Kaiah Malmstrom finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:40.5.

Junior Hailey Stevens finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:58.99.

Junior Hannah Holdebrandt finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:35.79.

Owego returns to action Tuesday at Norwich.
