WINDSOR — Owego picked up its second straight STAC boys golf victory Thursday as Sayer Prentiss was on fire early. The senior newcomer birdied the first two holes en route to a 3-over-par 35 and the River Hawks defeated Windsor, 218-244, at Golden Oak Golf Course here.
Duke Snyder followed with a 44, just one stroke ahead of Carter Rieg and Jordan Snyder. Connor Kotski was close behind at 46. Beckett Tirinato had a non-scoring 51.
“Nice win for the Academy,” said coach Chris Evans, whose team improved to 2-3.
Jack Wharton led the Black Knights with a 45, followed by Dylan Terrell and Alex Young with 46s. Tryston Griffin added a 49 and Kalen Rogers closed out the scoring with a 58. Ryan Lindquist had a non-scoring 62.
Wyatt Prentiss led the Owego JV players with a 45. Landon Boccasini shot 54, Cam Thole contributed a 52 and Cal Smith added a 58.
The River Hawks will get another shot at Chenango Valley when they host the Warriors Sept. 9 at The Golf Club at Owego. CV (2-0) won the previous meeting last Friday, 230-240.
