
TIOGA COUNTY — The high school sports season kicks off Wednesday for Tioga in sports other than golf, with the Owego and SVEC boys soccer teams, and the Owego tennis team opening their seasons.
BOYS SOCCER
Owego at Susquehanna Valley, 11 a.m.: The River Hawks are coming off an 18-1 season that ended with a Section IV, Class A title, and a trip to the state quarterfinals.
The Sabers finished the season with an 8-6-1 record.
Whitney Point at SVEC, 4:30 p.m.: The Eagles finished the season with a 10-4 record, ending with a loss to Chenango Forks in the Class B semifinals, while the Eagles finished with a 4-7 record.
Last year, SVEC opened the season with a 9-1 win over Whitney Point.
BOYS GOLF
Owego (1-2) at Norwich (1-0), 11 a.m.: The River Hawks are coming off a 213-235 win over Susquehanna Valley, while the Purple Tornadoes topped Waverly, 219-239.
