SPENCER — Good numbers and a strong offseason has S-VE volleyball coach Charity Meyers feeling good about the rapidly approaching 2025 season as preseason camp reaches the end of Week 1.
"Our numbers continue to be good with a total of 26 players trying out for the JV and the varsity," she said.
"Almost the entire varsity team played travel volleyball together with JV coach Sydney Meyers coaching them," she noted. "They medalled in four of the six tournaments they attended.
"The girls came to open gyms and camp during the summer, and have been working hard throughout the offseason," added Meyers. "They have also been doing strength-and-conditioning with David Meyers, which they will continue to do throughout the season."
Meyers likes what she's seen through the first week of preseason camp.
"We are excited for this season," she said. "These players have such a great bond already, and have clicked with each other on and off the court.
"We lost five seniors, and, of course, we will miss them," noted Meyers. "But, we have also gained some great talent moving up from the JV.
"I am already so pleased with what I am seeing these players do on the court," she added.
S-VE will scrimmage Dryden Friday, then open the season Sept. 2 at Groton.
