MIDDLETOWN - Candor's Lindsey Morse had an excellent weekend at the NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track And Field Championships, qualifying on Friday for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles, before earning a fourth place finish in Class C on Saturday.
Morse began her journey to the State Championships by finishing first in the girls' 100-meter hurdles for Class C at the State Qualifier Meet.
That finish put her through to this weekend's championships, where on Friday, Morse ran 16.41 in the trials round to grab the final spot for Saturday's final.
On Saturday, Morse got out of her blocks quick and powered her way to a fourth place finish in the Class C girls' 100m hurdles on the final day of the NYSPHSAA Outdoor Championships, finishing with a time of 15.99.
Despite some understandable nerves in the trials, Morse felt ready to roll on Saturday.
"Going into today's race I felt a bit more prepared because I did more warming up at the middle school track. My coach was here to help me a lot and I definitely felt more confident going into the race," said Morse.
Candor's Lindsey Morse has made big strides throughout this spring and is proud of her improvement.
"When I first started this season, I didn't expect to get anywhere near where I am today. I was able to improve my PR by two seconds and I am very proud of that. I am grateful for my coaches who have put a lot of work into helping me with everything that I have done," commented Morse.
