MIDDLETOWN - Candor's Lindsey Morse has been at her best during the right time of this outdoor track and field season, finishing eighth in today's trials for the Class C 100-meter hurdles at the State Championships, advancing her to Saturday's final at Middletown High School.
Morse made it to this weekend's NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track And Field Championships by finishing first in the 100-meter hurdles for Class C at last week's State Qualifier.
In today's trials, Morse clocked a 16.41 to grab the final spot in tomorrow's final.
"Before the race I felt a bit nervous because this was my first race at this size," said Morse.
After my race was over, I was glad I made the finals, but I still have a few things to work on like getting out of my blocks quicker."
"Overall I'm proud of my performance today and I am looking forward to tomorrow," added Morse.
"This was Lindsey's first time competing at this level. I was proud of her for just making it to the meet," said coach, Kim White.
"She was very nervous, but did what she had to do to make the finals. Now that she had a chance to compete at states, she is looking for a PR tomorrow."
Lindsey Morse will run in the Class C finals for the 100m hurdles on Saturday, with her event scheduled for 12:45 p.m. at Middletown High School.
