CHURCHVILLE - Noah Banks finished up a stellar high school golf career for the Coyotes today, competing in day two of the Boys' Golf State Championships at Mill Creek Golf Club.
For round one of the two-day tournament, Banks shot a 91 with a birdie and four pars.
In today's action, Candor's Banks carded a second consecutive 91 for a total score of 182 for the championship. Banks shot a 47 on the front nine at Mill Creek, while scoring a 44 on the back today. The standout senior totaled five pars for his round on Monday.
During his final high school season, Noah Banks helped lead his team to an IAC Small School South division title, as well as the IAC Small School team championship at the Conference Tournament. During his career, Banks was a three-time individual Section IV Tournament qualifier.
This was Banks' first trip to states after finishing in the top nine at the Section IV Medalist Tournament to qualify for the event.
"The round was definitely hard. With the pin and tee locations being changed, it was a challenge for me and a factor in why I scored so high," said Banks.
"With how long the holes were, it changed the way I had to think about my game."
"As for my high school career as a golfer, I didn't think it would end with going to states. I first started just to have fun and because my brother did it, but it slowly grew on me and has taught me big life lessons that I will take with me my entire life," added Banks.
""As a coach, I was lucky to have Noah Banks on my team for so many years. He has been a leader by not only displaying his talent and work ethic, but his class on the course, and his willingness to help his teammates," said Candor coach, Kevin Jester.
"The core group of Noah Banks, his brother Jacob, Taylor Brock, and Tyler Greeno brought Candor golf to the highest level ever, with two undefeated seasons, 30 straight regular season wins, three Conference Championships, and a Section 4 title. I wish Noah the best of luck and he will be missed."
