STAC SOFTBALL: OFA BOUNCES BACK AT HOME WITH DOUBLE-DIGIT VICTORY OVER ONEONTA (2025-05-14)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO - The River Hawks got back to their winning ways on Wednesday with runs both early and late in a double-digit home victory over Oneonta, 12-2.

Joslynn Space was excellent in the circle for Owego, going all seven innings and recording 13 strikeouts, while allowing just four hits on the day.

Owego started out hot, plating four runs in the first inning. Space and Carsten Crawford both reached on walks. Miley Laubach cracked a double to left field, scoring Space and advancing Crawford to third. Maia Smith followed up with a double of her own to score both runners.

The next three innings would remain scoreless with Space retiring nine out of the 10 Oneonta batters she faced.

In the fifth, the Yellowjackets put two on, but couldn't get anyone home. OFA then took a commanding lead by scoring six runs in the bottom half of the inning to go up 10-0.

The Yellowjackets grabbed two in the sixth, but OFA quickly responded with two more runs of their own in the home half of the inning.

Space lead off the sixth with a base-hit and Eva Crawford worked a walk to put two runners on. Space would advance to third and eventually steal home. Laubach then reached on error that also scored Crawford.

"It was nice to rebound back from Saturday. The girls had two good practices this week and we talked about mindset and where we need to be mentally. Today we put that in play," said coach Emily Crawford.

"I am proud of them getting on the board early and putting up another six late. Joslynn was great in the circle. She and Carsten are the one-two punch we've needed, and having her go the complete game to have Carsten fresh for Waverly is the 'we is greater than me' mentality we have been working on."

Smith went 2-for-4 with four RBIs for Owego. Elise Silvanic had two RBIs as well. Eva Crawford was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Laubach also reached home twice to go with a hit.

Carsten Crawford and Space each scored two runs, while Ava Leonard and Audrionna Howe both had a hit to go with a run.

The River Hawks are home again tomorrow to play Waverly.
