Owego's Conlan Taylor was the ace his team needed him to be in a pivotal division series against Waverly last week, while Madison McEvoy was a force on the lacrosse field in multiple wins that included her reaching a career milestone. They are the Tioga County Sports Report / Guthrie Community Credit Union "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending May 10.

Conlan Taylor was dealing on the mound for the River Hawks last week. The ace pitcher came through with the win in game-one of their series with Waverly, a victory that would be pivotal in deciding the STAC Central Division. On Saturday, Taylor once again earned a win on the bump with a shut down performance over Seton Catholic. In two games, Taylor threw 12 innings with 16 strikeouts and only one earned run, while allowing just five hits.

OWEGO'S MADISON MCEVOY NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION GIRLS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'
Madison McEvoy had a huge impact last week for OFA girls' lacrosse, helping lead her team to wins over top-tier opponents in Johnson City and Vestal. Against Johnson City, McEvoy found the back of the net five times, while also tallying an assist and three ground balls. In the win over Vestal, the senior scored twice, to go with three assists and two ground balls. McEvoy also netted her 200th career goal during the victory over the Golden Bears.
