ELMIRA HEIGHTS - SVEC softball held off Edison's offense for three innings, even taking a lead into the fourth, but ultimately came out on the losing end, 8-2 in IAC action.
The Eagles got out to an early lead with a run in the first inning. With two outs, Katelyn Klym drove in Jillian Holmes on an RBI single.
SVEC earned their only other run of the game in the top of the third, when again with two outs, Klym knocked a base-hit to right field, scoring Emma Neish.
Elliana Middlebrook pitched three scoreless innings for the Eagles, before giving up three runs in the fourth. The Spartans tacked on five more in the sixth to put the game away.
Klym was 2-for-3 with two RBIs on the day. Neish also finished 2-for-3, while scoring a run. Holmes went 1-for-3 with a run scored as well.
SVEC will be back on the diamond tomorrow at home to play Trumansburg.
