IAC BASEBALL: NEWARK VALLEY FALLS TO NEWFIELD ON THE ROAD IN FIVE INNINGS (2025-05-12)

Tioga County Sports Report
NEWFIELD - The Trojans put up double digits in the third inning to pull away from Newark Valley on Monday in IAC play, besting the Cardinals, 12-1 in five innings.

Newfield scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead right out of the gate. The rest of Monday's runs all came in the third.

Newark Valley tied the game up in the top part of the third, when Brandon Eynon doubled, before being driven in by a Josh Karp line drive base-hit.

The Trojans took advantage of a Cardinals error, as well as multiple walks and a string of hits to put up 11 runs in the home half of the inning.

Neither team would score again before the game's end in five.

Karp went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Eynon was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Scott Wager and Gabe Merrill finished the game with a hit each.

The Cardinals are back on the diamond tomorrow when they travel to Groton.
