UNION SPRINGS - Cardinals' baseball ran up against a deep and well rounded Union Springs team Thursday, falling on the road to the unbeaten Wolves, 10-0 in five innings.
Union Springs scored a run in the first inning and plated seven more in the second.
Newark Valley tightened up after that, holding the Wolves to just two more runs over the next three innings.
The Cardinals were only able to manage one hit on the day though, coming on a Joshua Karp line drive in the top of the first.
Gabe Merrill and Kenny Slater split time on the mound for Newark Valley, combining for eight strikeouts, while allowing seven total hits.
The Cardinals will try and earn their first win of the season, when they travel to Tioga tomorrow.
