Tioga County Sports Report
JOHNSON CITY - Owego and Johnson City braved the weather on Tuesday night, going head to head in a Section IV girls' lacrosse match-up, with OFA coming out on top, 12-9.

The last time these two faced off was earlier in the season, when the River Hawks bested the Wildcats, 11-10 in double sudden death overtime.

Tonight, it was the McEvoy sisters who lit up the scoreboard for Owego. Madison and Jenna McEvoy each found the net five times during Tuesday's trip to Johnson City.

Amelia Sherman and Lexi Herceg both recorded a goal, as well as an assist for OFA. Izzy Herceg helped out with two assists of her own.

Lexi Herceg lead her team in ground balls, with seven total. Mikayla Wilbur collected four ground balls, and Ashleigh Steele racked up three.

Shannon Maslin came through in goal when needed against the Wildcats, making 10 saves throughout the game, while Bella Silvestri had some big checks that lead her team to scoring opportunities.

"It was a thrilling display of talent and teamwork, lead by the McEvoy sisters," said coach Ashlee Marsh.

"Their sharp shooting and our team's defense definitely lead to this much deserved win."

Owego girls' lacrosse has now won eight in a row and will be back in action on Thursday, at home against Vestal.
