STAC SOFTBALL: OFA COMES OUT ON TOP IN BACK AND FORTH SHOWDOWN WITH WAVERLY (2025-05-05)

Tioga County Sports Report
WAVERLY - In a game with multiple lead changes, the River Hawks came out ahead against Waverly, defeating the Wolverines, 8-7 in a STAC Central match-up.

Both teams scored a run each in the first inning. Waverly then got three home in the second for their first lead of the evening.

Owego bounced back, however, plating four runs in the top of the third inning to go ahead in the game.

Lexi Cheeseman and Bella Beams lead off the third with back-to-back walks. After a wild pitch, both runners advanced. Geneva Crawford then hit a fly ball and reached on an error, moving all the way to third, with both runners scoring. Carsten Crawford came up next and ripped a double to drive in the third run of the inning. Maia Smith would put a ball in play to get Crawford home.

Once again, the lead changed hands though, when Waverly scored three more runs in the home half of the fourth to go ahead 7-5.

The Wolverine lead didn't last long, as OFA came right back in the fifth with the final three runs of the game to earn the victory.

Beams reached on an error to start the inning. Joslyn Space grounded into a fielder's choice, but Geneva Crawford tripled next to get Space home. Carsten Crawford followed that up with a triple of her own, bringing in the second run of the inning and tying the game at seven a piece.

Miley Laubach stepped in the box next and flied out to center, allowing Crawford to tag up and plate the go ahead run.

Laubach and Carsten Crawford had two RBIs each. Geneva Crawford scored three runs to go with an RBI. Space, Cheeseman and Beams all crossed home once as well.

Carsten Crawford and Space both spent time in the circle on Monday, combining to strike out seven.

OFA softball will be in action again on Wednesday, on the road to face Chenango Valley.
