IAC SOFTBALL: SVEC RALLIES WITH FOUR IN THE SIXTH, BUT COMES UP A RUN SHORT AGAINST LANSING (2025-04-28)

Tioga County Sports Report
LANSING - The Eagles went on the road Monday to try and extend a four-game win streak, but came up just short, falling 8-7 to the Bobcats in a closely contested IAC match-up.

Both teams went back and forth with Lansing coming out of the first inning up 2-1. SVEC responded with two runs in the top of the third, but the Bobcats tacked on a run in the home half of the inning to tie things up at three a piece.

Lansing put up five runs in the fifth to take an 8-3 lead.

In the top of the sixth, SVEC's Ryleigh Bowman lead off with a single and advanced to second on the throw. Elliana Middlebrook then grounded out to the pitcher, but moved the runner to third.

Maddy Ashby grounded out next, but scored Bowman. With two outs, Kelsea Swayze and Emma Neish would notch base-hits, and Jillian Holmes worked a walk to load the bases.

Faith Brenchley then came to the plate and smacked a double to clear the bases, driving in all three runners. The Eagles held Lansing scoreless in the bottom of the sixth, but could not produce anymore runs in the final inning.

Brenchley went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Katelyn Klym tallied two RBIs for the game, and Jillian Holmes scored three runs. Neish scored a run as well, while Ashby drove in a run.

Elliana Middlebrook pitched six innings, giving up five earned runs and striking out 13.

SVEC's next game comes against Whitney Point at home on Wednesday.
