TRUMANSBURG - The momentum is building for SVEC softball as the Eagles went on the road Wednesday and shutout Trumansburg, 19-0 for their third consecutive win.
Elliana Middlebrook has been a breakthrough player for the Eagles in the last few games. The eighth grader got the start in the circle on Wednesday and did not disappoint, allowing only a handful of hits and no earned runs to go with 10 k's in five innings.
SVEC put up a huge first inning, plating seven runs. The Eagles tacked on another run in the second and 11 more combined runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Faith Brenchley had two doubles. Katelyn Klym, Maddy Ashby and Emma Neish all recorded doubles during Wednesday's road win as well.
Klym, Brenchley, and Middlebrook each drove in multiple runs on the day, while Ryleigh Bowman and Olivia Potts turned in multi-hit performances in what was a great day at the plate for the Eagles. SVEC racked up a total of 17 hits in the victory.
Jillian Holmes scored twice and Kaidince Root added a run scored as well.
"A third straight win feels good after how we started the season," co-coach Megan Friscia said.
"Elliana has really come in and changed the trajectory of our season, along with our hitting that has gotten stronger."
"Our defense has been solid as well, only committing one error over the course of these three games. It makes a huge difference when everything comes together," added Friscia.
SVEC is back on the road, April 25th to face Chenango Forks.
