Tioga County Sports Report
VESTAL - Owego girls' lacrosse traveled to Vestal early Friday afternoon and pulled out a third straight victory, defeating the Golden Bears, 11-10.

The River Hawks entered Friday, coming off an 11-10, double overtime win against Johnson City. By topping Vestal, OFA has now won their last two games by a combined two goals, showing a strong resilience and picking up plenty of momentum going forward in the season.

OFA went down early in the game, but battled near the end of the first half and carried that confidence over to the third quarter.

Owego managed to hold Vestal to only two goals in the second half and Bella Silvestri came up with a huge interception on the defensive end with five minutes left.

Madison and Jenna McEvoy combined for seven of Owego's eleven goals against Vestal. Madison netted four to go with two assists, while Jenna McEvoy scored three times.

"The McEvoy girls showed up when we needed it," said coach Ashlee Marsh.

"Jenna kept us in the game and Madison pulled out the boost that we needed to win."

Shannon Maslin shined in goal with eight saves on the day. Lexi Herceg found the net twice for the River Hawks and helped out with an assist, while Amelia Sherman and Keira Henry each scored once.

Sherman lead the way in ground ball control, totaling four. Ashleigh Steele tallied three ground balls, while Herceg, Silvestri and Mikayla Wilbur controlled two ground balls each as well.

"It was a full team effort," added Marsh.

"The girls stepped up where and when I needed them. Shannon with huge saves, Amelia with draw controls and Lexi with her offensive momentum."

Owego girls' lacrosse is back in action on April 21st, when they host Union-Endicott.
