TRACK & FIELD: NEWARK VALLEY GIRLS' FINISH SECOND AT ROTARY RELAYS IN CHENANGO FORKS, BOYS' TAKE EIGHTH (2025-04-18)

CHENANGO FORKS - Cardinals' track and field competed in the Chenango Forks Rotary Relays yesterday, with the girls side finishing second and the boys placing eighth. 

Newark Valley girls earned a team total of 68, while the boys tallied 24 total team points.

Girls Results:
Newark Valley girls had two winners in the field events. Emily LaPorte won the triple jump, leaping 32-1.25 and Anika Smith won the pole vault with 7-6.

Smith also earned third in the long jump with 14-11.5. Bella King grabbed second in the discus event with a throw of 77-11 and Olivia Webb placed third in the high jump, leaping 4-8.

Newark Valley's 4x100-meter relay team won their event, running 1:08.69, while the 4x1600-meter relay earned third with 29:32.40. The girls' 4x800m also finished third with a time of 11:58.04.

Boys Results:
The Newark Valley boys finished fifth in three different relays, including the 4x400m with 4:02.27, 4x800m with 9:49.89 and the sprint medley, running 4:11.74.

Logan Rhodes had a solid showing for the Newark Valley boys. Rhodes placed second in the pole vault with 12-0. Elijah Williams recorded 39-4.25 for sixth in the triple jump, while Zion King leaped 17-3.5 for eighth in the long jump. Jack Blomberg heaved 35-11.5 for sixth place in the shot put.
