MARATHON - The Cardinals' dropped a tough road loss in IAC action to start the week, losing to Marathon 12-2 in five innings.

Marathon got one home in the first and picked up another four runs in the second inning. 

Newark Valley was able to get one back in the third and score another run in the top half of the fourth inning, before Marathon then plated five runs of their own in the fourth and two again in the fifth to put the game away.

Karmine Castaloni notched an RBI for the day, while Gabe Merrill and Kenny Slater each scored a run a piece.
