VAN ETTEN - SVEC put two runs on the board in the first, but struggled to keep pace, falling to Elmira Notre Dame, 15-5 at home.
After a Notre Dame homer to left field brought in two runs in the top of the first, SVEC responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
Emma Neish drew a walk to start, and Ryleigh Bowman reached first on a single. Faith Brenchley stepped to the plate next and doubled to score Neish. Katelynn Klym then grounded out, but was able to bring in Bowman to tie the game up.
Elmira Notre Dame scored four in the second and two more in the third. In the home part of the fourth, Kelsea Swayze reached base on a single and later scored on a Allison Oaks fly ball for the Eagles.
Two more runs would cross in the sixth for Notre Dame and the Crusaders plated five runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Brenchley, Klym and Oaks all had RBIs during the afternoon, while Neish, Bowman, Swayze and Kaidince Root all chipped in a hit each.
SVEC softball is at Edison on Thursday.
