ALBANY — Owego senior Bobby Struble forged a pair of hard-fought wins to finish seventh here Saturday at the New York State Division 2 Wrestling Championships at the MVP Arena.
In the "blood round," Struble scored a takedown with 19 seconds remaining to seal a 4-0 win over Ardsley's Ethan Mitev to guarantee himself a trip to the podium.
In the consolation quarterfinals, Little Falls' Matt Verri turned Struble to his back for a fall in the second period.
Struble wrapped up his high school career with a 6-0 win over Maine-Endwell's Albert Smith in the seventh-place match.
Struble scored a takedown with 7 seconds remaining in the first period, then upped the lead to 6-0 with a takedown midway through the second period.
Struble rode top for the third period to close out the 6-0 win.
Struble wraps up his senior season with a 32-10 record, and his career with a 103-36 mark.
"Bobby (Struble) has been a big part of our program," said Owego coach Mike Daly. "He will be missed."
