NEW YORK STATE WRESTLING: NEWARK VALLEY'S MIDDENDORF, DeBOLT, OWEGO'S STRUBLE, BRACE SET FOR ACTION AT DIVISION 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS (February 26, 2025)

ALBANY — Newark Valley and Owego will each have two wrestlers vying for state hardware this weekend at the New York State Division 2 Wrestling Championships here at the MVP Arena.

Newark Valley seniors Trevor Middendorf and Austin DeBolt, and Owego senior Bobby Struble and sophomore Dylan Brace will begin their quest Friday at 10 a.m.

Middendorf (31-5) is the third seed at 124 pounds, and will receive a bye into the round-of-16. He will face the winner of the opening-round match between 19th-seeded Shane Wells (26-9) of Mount Sinai and 14th-seeded Liam Harte (34-7) of Malone.

Struble (29-7) is the fifth seed at 160 pounds, and will receive a bye into the round-of-16. He will face the winner of the opening-round match between 12th-seeded Parker Manor (38-1) of Northern Adirondack and 21st-seeded Peter Thompson (17-1) of Dansville-Wayland-Cohocton.

Brace (29-7) is the 16th seed, and will face 17th-seed Holden Kelly (32-6) of Perry in the opening round. The winner will face top-seeded Gavin Mangano (46-0) of Shoreham-Wading River in the round-of-16.

DeBolt (26-9) is the 21st seed in the 285-pound bracket, and will square off with 12th-seeded Max Ortega (22-5) of Carle Place. The winner will face fifth-seeded Zach Kuelling (38-5) of Williamson-Marion-Sodus in the round-of-16.

Also representing Tioga County will be a pair of Tioga wrestlers in junior Jayden Duncanson and sophomore Declan McKee, as well as five Waverly grapplers — juniors Troy Beeman and Cooper Robinson, sophomore Rhylee Stotler, freshman Drayton DeKay, and 8th-grader Avery Bowman.
