TIOGA COUNTY — Newark Valley's Rachel Hartman won a Section IV gold medal, and Owego's Magavin Allen won two Section IV gold medals. They are the Tioga County Sports Report / Guthrie Community Credit Union "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Feb. 22.

NEWARK VALLEY'S HARTMAN NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Hartman won the Class C gold at Midway Lanes Friday.

Hartman rolled a 606 series on games of 205, 189, and 212.

Hartman's average for the season was 170, and her high game was 203.

Honorable Mentions: Candor's Kaydee Jackson (Candor), Owego's Lexi Herceg (basketball), Owego's Jenna McEvoy (basketball), Newark Valley's Kam Short (basketball), Newark Valley's Adrianna Rich (basketball), Newark Valley's Haven Aylesworth (basketball), Candor's Hazel Ray (basketball), Candor's Shawna Conklin (basketball), and Owego's Elizabeth Anschultz (bowling).

OWEGO'S ALLEN NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Allen won a pair of gold medals Saturday at the Class B swimming championships.

Allen won the 200-yard IM in a personal-best time of 2:02.76 — more than 3.1 seconds ahead of the runner-up. He won the 100 back in 56.86 seconds — 2.2 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Allen also won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke at the Class B preliminaries Wednesday.
