Cha Gardner, a freshman on the Division I Stephen F. Austin women's basketball game, recorded her second double-double with a career-high in points and rebounds Thursday in a 66-59 win over Houston Christian University.
In a season-high 35 minutes, Gardner came off the bench to score 20 points on 9 of 14 shooting from the field, with 10 rebounds, including five offensive boards, to go along with one assist, one steal, and one blocked shot in SFA's ninth consecutive win.
It was her second double-double of the season. She had She had 15 points and 10 rebounds against Lamar on Jan. 11.
On Saturday, Gardner had nine points and four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in a 73-68 win over the University of the Incarnate Word.
Gardner is averaging 6.4 points and 4.3 rebounds this season in about 18 minutes per game, to go along with 31 assists, 12 blocked shots and 10 steals in 26 games, including nine starts
The 6-3 freshman is shooting 51.7 percent (61 of 118) from the field and has eight 3-pointers on the season.
Stephen F. Austin, winners of 10 straight, is 24-5, and will return to action Thursday when it hosts McNeese State University.
