IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: RED-HOT CANDOR CRUISES TO 91-46 WIN OVER S-VE (24 PHOTOS) (2024-02-04)

SPENCER — Candor erupted for 64 points in the middle two quarters en route to a 91-46 win over S-VE here Tuesday night in IAC South Small School Division boys basketball action.

Jakobe Foster scored eight points in the first quarter, while Carson Heidl scored four, and Donald Makie added a 3-pointer to lead the Coyotes to a 17-11 lead.

Makie, who knocked down a trio of 3-pointers, Foster, and Heidl scored nine points apiece, and Teagan Kwiatkowski added seven points as Candor poured in 36 points to extend its lead to 53-31 at the halftime intermission.

Luukas Carling led S-VE in the first half with eight points, while Clayton Bowers scored seven points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Nevin Mack chipped in with six points.

Foster scored nine more points, including his third 3-pointer, in the third quarter, while Kwiatkowski and Ryan Huizinga each scored five points, Heidl added four points, and Makie drained another 3-pointer in a 28-6 blitz that pushed the lead to 81-37 entering the final eight minutes.

Nick Oakes buried a trio of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for the Coyotes.

Foster, who was 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, led Candor with 26 points, including three 3-pointers, eight rebounds, and six assists, while Heidl had 17 points, three rebounds, and three steals, and Makie had 15 points, including five 3-pointers, and three assists.

Kwiatkowski had 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and three rebounds in the win, while Oakes added nine points, Huizinga had seven points, eight rebounds, and four steals, Matthew Smith chipped in with four points and four rebounds, and Jason Jantz had four rebounds and three steals.

Bower led S-VE with 16 points, while Carlin scored nine points, Mack and Keith Hills added six points apiece, and Christopher Merrick and Jackson Bennett chipped in with four points apiece.

Candor, now 12-3, returns to action Friday at O-M, while S-VE, now 0-14, hosts Tioga Thursday.
