IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: MORAVIA RIDES BIG SECOND HALF TO 54-34 WIN OVER S-VE (2025-02-03)
Tioga County Sports ReportSPENCER — Moravia held S-VE scoreless in the third quarter to erase a one-point deficit, and take a 13-point lead into the fourth quarter en route to a 54-34 win here Thursday night in IAC Small School crossover junior varsity boys basketball action.
Elliott Johans scored seven points, including a 3-pointer, and Javier Baillo connected on a 3-pointer to help the Panthers to a 12-11 lead after the opening stanza.
Moravia made just 1 of 11 free-throw attempts in the first quarter.
Darian Rowan scored four points, and Johans drilled a 3-pointer as the two teams played even in the second quarter. S-VE led 23-22 at the break.
Moravia took control in the third quarter with a 14-0 blitz to take a 36-23 lead into the final stanza.
Johans scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, including a rare four-point play, but the Blue Devils closed the game with an 18-11 run.
Johans led S-VE with 21 points, and Roman added four points.
S-VE returns to action Monday when it hosts Newark Valley.
