IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: WATKINS GLEN RALLIES IN FOURTH QUARTER TO TOP NEWARK VALLEY, 60-53 (2025-02-01)

WATKINS GLEN — Watkins Glen closed the game strong in a come-from-behind, 60-55, win over Newark Valley here Friday night in IAC South Large School boys basketball action.

Tim Wojtysiak scored nine points, including a 3-pointer, in the first quarter, while Anthony Dougher added five points, and Austin Green added four to help Newark Valley to a 20-17 lead after the opening stanza.

Wojtysiak scored seven more points in the second quarter, but the Lake Hawks outscored the Cardinals 17-11 to take a 34-31 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Dougher scored seven points, and Green buried a pair of 3-pointers in a 17-11 spurt that gave the Cardinals a 48-45 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

The Lake Hawks limited Newark Valley to just two field goals, including a 3-pointer by Dougher, in the fourth quarter, and used a 15-5 run to pull out the win.

Wojtysiak led Newark Valley with 18 points, while Dougher scored 15, Green added 10 points, and Benjamin chipped in with six points.

Newark Valley, now 4-11, returns to action Monday at S-VE.
