TIOGA COUNTY SPORTS REPORT: SVEC'S BEACH, OWEGO'S MONELL NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2025-01-28)

TIOGA COUNTY — SVEC junior Tayah Beach won a pair of tournaments, and Owego senior Collin Monell won a STAC title. They are the TCSR / Guthrie Community Credit Union "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Jan. 25.

SVEC'S BEACH NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Beach went 7-0 on the week to win the Lady Knight Invitational at Windsor and an IAC title.

Beach went 3-0 at Windsor with a technical fall and two sub-60 second falls. She pinned Waverly's Emma Vanderhoof in the 120-pound finals.

Beach went 4-0 at the IAC Championships, with three falls and a medical forfeit. She pinned Groton's Carmen Bishop, Section IV's top-ranked 126-pounder, in the 126-pound finals for her first IAC title.

OWEGO'S MONELL NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Monell, a four-time STAC place-finisher, was 3-0 to win the 131-pound title — his first STAC championship.

Monell won his first two bouts via fall — in 1:02 and 3:44, then beat Waverly's Caden Bradley, 7-3, in the finals.
