Tioga County Sports ReportAUBURN — The Newark Valley girls earned one point in a 3-1 loss to Union Springs / Port Byron here Monday afternoon, while the Cardinal boys were swept in IAC Large School Division boys bowling action at Starlite Lanes.
GIRLS
US / PB 3, Newark Valley 1
The Cardinals won the first game 816-726, but US / PB answered with wins of 775-669 and 866-698 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,367 to 2,193.
Rachel Hartman led Newark Valley with a 566 series, while Lyla Dufresne shot a 500, and Abigail Dufresne rolled a 500.
Brook Illsley had a 319 for Newark Valley, while Abigail DeBolt added a 306, and Maeanna Jackson chipped in with a 304.
Jenna Jump led US / PB with a 690 series, and Caroline Smead banged out a 639.
BOYS
US / PB 4, Newark Valley 0
Union Springs won the first games by more than 200 pins each en route to a total-pinfall victory of 2,873 to 2,278.
James Wales led Newark Valley with a 569, including a 212 in the second game, while Devon Green rolled a 558, Mason Peck shot a 439, and William Simmons added a 410.
Dylan Howell led US / PB with a 742 series, and Matthew Howell added a 596.
Newark Valley's match against Lansing Tuesday has been postponed.
