TIOGA COUNTY — Newark Valley sophomore Kam Short and Candor junior Jakobe Foster each had a pair of big games on the week. They are the TCSR / Guthrie Community Credit Union "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Jan. 18.

NEWARK VALLEY'S SHORT NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Short averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocked shots, 2.5 steals, and 2 assists per game in two Cardinal wins.

Short scored a career-high 24 points to go along with eight rebounds, three assists, four steals, and six blocked shots in a 77-30 win over Trumansburg.

Short led Newark Valley with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots in a 66-20 win over Dryden later in the week.

CANDOR'S FOSTER NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Foster averaged 34 points, 8 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 5 steals in two games.

Foster led Candor with 25 points, including a pair of 3-pointers and a 9-for-10 performance from free-throw line, to go along with seven rebounds, nine assists, and six steals in a 75-47 win over O-M.

Foster poured in 43 points, and had nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a 75-70 overtime loss to state-ranked Union Springs later in the week.
