IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY TOPS WHITNEY POINT, 36-22 (2025-01-14)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley used a strong two middle quarters on its way to a 36-22 win over Whitney Point here Friday in IAC Large School crossover boys basketball action.

The Cardinals led 6-5 after the first quarter, then powered by six points from Brianna Noble and a 3-pointer by Gabby James used an 11-4 run to take a 17-9 lead into the halftime locker room.

Peyton Rhodes scored four points in the third quarter, and four of her teammates added a bucket in a 12-7 spurt that extended the lead to 29-16 entering the final seven minutes.

Noble had eight points, four rebounds and three steals, and Rhodes had eight points and seven rebounds to lead Newark Valley, while James had seven points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Natalie Wandell had six points and seven rebounds in the win, while Sarah Lamb added five points, three rebounds, and one blocked shot, and Elle Webb had four rebounds and two assists.

Lacey Tillotson led Whitney Point with eight points.

Newark Valley returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Waverly. The varsity hosts Trumansburg immediately following.
