Tioga County Sports Report ELMIRA — Owego graduate Joe Bangel helped the Hartwick men’s basketball team pick up their first win of the season at Elmira on Tuesday night, 71-68.
For Hartwick it was the first game of Empire 8 play and they move to 1-9 on the year and 1-0 in league play. It was also head coach Brad Cooper’s first victory at Hartwick.
Bangel played 10 minutes, going 2-for-4 from the field with a rebound and two assists. He blocked one shot in the game.
Bangel and his twin brother John Bangel have each started games for Hartwick this year.
Joe Bangel averages 12.9 minutes a game, scoring 2.8 points with 1.5 rebounds a game. He has six assists and he has blocked four shots. He’s played in 10 games with two starts.
