IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: JANTZ PLAYS HERO IN CANDOR'S, 57-50, OVERTIME WIN OVER MARATHON (2024-01-06)

CANDOR — Kyle Jantz scored a bucket at the buzzer to force overtime, then scored points points in the extra session to lead the Coyotes to a 57-50 win over Marathon here Friday in IAC junior varsity boys basketball action.

Marathon led 22-17 at the half, but Kellen Williamson, who led Candor scorers with six points in the first half, and Carter Edwards scored five points apiece, and Ethan Eiklor canned a 3-pointers as the Coyotes tied the game, at 32-32, with a 15-10 advantage in the third quarter.

Jantz scored seven points in the fourth quarter, including the game-tying bucket, and Eiklor added his third 3-pointer of the game, and regulation ended at 44-44.

Williamson scored four points in the extra session, and the Coyotes made 7 of 10 free throws won the stretch to nail down the win.

Williamson led Candor with 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists, and Jantz had 14 points, with 12 coming in the fourth quarter and overtime, to go along with six rebounds, and five assists.

Edwards scored 13 points and hauled down 12 rebounds in the win, while Eiklor had 12 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and three boards, and Oscar Valdez-Cole added six rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Aydan Brown led all scorers with 24 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, for the Olympians.

Candor returns to action Tuesday when it hosts S-VE.
