TIOGA COUNTY — Newark Valley senior Adrianna Finta and Owego senior Matt Higgins played bit roles in their respective teams' wins during the abbreviate Christmas holiday week. They are the TCSR / Guthrie Community Credit Union "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Dec. 28.

NEWARK VALLEY'S FINTA NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION GIRLS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'
Finta had 19 points, four boards, three assists, and three steals in 66-25 win over bath-havering

Finta had 16 points and was also chosen to the all-tournament team. She also had seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. In 49-43 loss to Wellsville in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at Bath-Haverling High School

Honorable Mention: S-VE's Kaidince Root (basketball), Newark Valley's Aubrey Kwiatkowski (basketball), Newark Valley's Kam Short (basketball).

OWEGO'S HIGGINS NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION BOYS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'
Higgins scored 13 of his game-high 15 points in the second half of Owego's 60-46 win over Candor Saturday night.

Honorable Mention: Candor's Jakobe Foster (basketball), Owego's Zack Bensley (Owego), S-VE's Luukas Carling (basketball), and S-VE's Noah Ingram (basketball).
