IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: MARATHON ROLLS TO WIN OVER S-VE (2024-12-20)
Tioga County Sports ReportMARATHON — Marathon got out to a big lead early, then took advantage of an ice-cold S-VE in the second half to roll to a 69-29 win here Friday night in IAC Small School Division boys basketball crossover action.
Camden Kashuba, who scored a game-high 32 points for the Olympians, knocked down four of Marathon's six 3-pointers in the opening stanza, and scored 14 points to fuel a 26-10 blitz in the opening stanza.
Christopher Merrick, who had five points in the first quarter, scored eight points in the second quarter as S-VE used a 12-9 spurt to close the gap to 35-22 at the half.
The Panthers were held to three free throws in the third quarter as the Olympians outscored them 19-3 to take a 55-25 lead into the final eight minutes.
Merrick led S-VE with 17 points, and Nevin Mack added four points.
S-VE, now 0-3, returns to action Thursday against South Seneca at the Watkins Glen Holiday Tournament.
