IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR KNOCKS OFF NEWFIELD, 53-43 (2024-12-18)
Tioga County Sports ReportNEWFIELD — Candor built a 14-point lead through three quarters on its way to a 53-43 win over Newfield here Tuesday night in IAC South Small School Division junior varsity boys basketball action.
Hunter Cody scored six points and Carter Edwards added four points to help Candor to a 13-11 lead after the first quarter.
Kellen Williamson scored seven points, including a 3-pointer, and Cody added six points in a 15-8 second-quarter run that extended the lead to 28-19 at the half.
The Coyotes used a 15-10 third-quarter to push its lead to 43-29 heading into the final quarter. Cody scored six points in the stanza, while Williamson added five points, and Edwards had four.
Cody led Candor with 18 points and six rebounds, while Williamson had 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and four rebounds, and Edwards had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Ethan Eiklor chipped in with four points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one blocked shot in the win, while Kyle Jantz had five rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and one blocked shot, Oscar Valdez-Cole had four rebounds and three blocked shots, and Nathan Morse chipped in with three boards.
Josiah McCoy led Newfield with 25 points.
Candor returns to action Friday at Moravia.
